QSR International, a developer of qualitative data analysis software, has acquired Swiss Academic Software. The Swiss software company is the provider of Citavi, a comprehensive app for reference management and note management that enables the analysis of sources and the management of notes in a single place. QSR aims to strengthen its position in the market for research tools and technologies. Citavi will be part of the QSR product suite alongside NVivo , the latest version of the popular research tool used by researchers in the health sector, government agencies and non-profit organizations, universities and industry worldwide, and Sonia, the student placement solution.

“In order for so many researchers to continue their important work in the difficult conditions of our time, it has never been more important to offer a complete suite of solutions that support researchers at every step of their research projects,” said Chris Astle, CEO from QSR International. “The merger of NVivo and Citavi raises the bar for research tools. With our NVivo suite for qualitative data analysis, which is now supplemented by the Citavi solution for reference management and note management, we deliver the entire spectrum of functions and thus provide a platform that supports individual researchers or teams in all project phases. “

“In our key markets of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Citavi is already a tool that is in great demand with researchers,” reports Thomas Schempp, co-founder of Citavi. “At the same time as the introduction of our new web-based solution, which complements our proven desktop software, we are pleased to present Citavi and to accelerate our growth in new markets – as a stand-alone reference management tool and as an extension to NVivo.”
