Meadowbrook Insurance Group retained powerhouse investment bank Goldman Sachs to review its strategic and capital-raising alternatives. Meadowbrook’s Aug. 10 announcement, however, did not help the microcap’s stock price, as it fell about 5% from $3 before closing at $2.85. At press time, Meadowbrook’s stock closed at $2.74. Meadowbrook has a $25 million market cap and provides non-traditional insurance which involves some sort of risk-retention by the insured party. Meadowbrook is also the holding company for several insurance firms, including American Indemnity Insurance.
