Following two announcements that its earnings would increase dramatically over its year-prior figures, Internet auto loan provider Westar Financial Services has suddenly said it can no longer survive as an independent company. The terrorist attacks and closed capital markets created a one-two punch that have nearly knocked Tumwater, Wash.-based Westar out, Chief Executive Officer Robert Chistensen said in a statement on Nov. 7.
