Uber expressed interest in a potential acquisition of Free Now after the venture’s efforts to attract additional investors struggled to gain traction amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to Bloomberg News.

Uber will acquire a minority stake in Sennder as part of the transaction. The partnership includes a program in which Sennder will refer customers seeking services in North America to Uber Freight and vice versa.

Bulking up in driverless technology represents an expansion of Amazon’s already sprawling interests in transportation and logistics.

The service, using Microsoft’s cloud software, will give big and small companies real-time data to determine ways to improve how they move goods.
