Chicago private equity firm Wind Point Partners has purchased Argotec, which manufactures polyurethane film.

Greenfield, Mass.-based Argotec’s polyurethane film and sheets are used to protect surfaces with impact-resistant glass, adhesive coatings and plastic fabricators. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Wind Point manages about $2.5 billion in capital. The company is currently investing from a $915 million fund that closed in April 2009.

The firm combined two of its portfolio companies, Hearthside Food Solutions and Ryt-way Industries into one food manufacturing business in May. In November, Wind Point bought Hilex Poly, which manufactures plastic bags.

GE Antares Capital and Ares Capital Corp. provided senior debt for the deal. ReedSmith LLC was Wind Point’s legal counsel.
