Trans-Pacific Aerospace Co. Inc. has acquired a 55 percent stake in Godfrey (China) Ltd.

The Hong Kong-based target’s subsidiary, Godfrey Guangzhou Aerospace Bearings, recently became the first Chinese manufacturer to pass the SAE Aerospace Standard 81820 test from the U.S. Navy, which allows it to make bearings for aircrafts.

Trans-Pacific has been focused on developing a production facility in Guangzhou as it aims to expand in China, which will design and engineer Godfrey’s product line of spherical bearings.

The buyer, headquartered in San Marino, Calif., designs, engineers and manufactures self-lubricating spherical bearings used by the commercial aircraft industry and plans to develop similar technology that can be used by the maritime, power plant and space industries. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
