Private equity firm TA Associates is buying Cmosis for an undisclosed amount.
Antwerp, Belgium-based Cmosis NV supplies image sensors for the industrial and scientific markets. The sensors are used for machine vision, high-end digital photography, digital cinema, plus aerospace, scientific and medical imaging.
The company raised about $7.5 million in venture capital backing from Capital-E, ING Belgium and Vinnof.
Boston-based TA invests in technology, financial services, business services, health care and consumer industries. In November, the firm completed a majority investment in Accruent LLC, which provides real estate management software. In September, the firm picked up a stake in SoftWriters Holdings Inc., a pharmacy management software. Also in September, TA completed the majority recapitalization of BluePay Processing Inc., which provides payment processing services.
Oppenheimer Europe and ING Corporate Finance are acting as joint financial advisers to Cmosis, and Baker & McKenzie is providing legal advice. Travers Smith and NautaDutilh are TA’s legal advisers, while EOC Partners LLP is providing financial advice.
