Private equity firm TA Associates is buying Cmosis for an undisclosed amount.

Antwerp, Belgium-based Cmosis NV supplies image sensors for the industrial and scientific markets. The sensors are used for machine vision, high-end digital photography, digital cinema, plus aerospace, scientific and medical imaging.

The company raised about $7.5 million in venture capital backing from Capital-E, ING Belgium and Vinnof.

Boston-based TA invests in technology, financial services, business services, health care and consumer industries. In November, the firm completed a majority investment in Accruent LLC, which provides real estate management software.  In September, the firm picked up a stake in SoftWriters Holdings Inc., a pharmacy management software. Also in September, TA completed the majority recapitalization of BluePay Processing Inc., which provides payment processing services.
