TA Associates is on a roll; the private equity firm completed another deal—its’ second thus far this month—to acquire Aurora Networks, a next-generation cable services provider.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Aurora, based in California, is an optical transport solution provider working specifically with cable network providers. As the ‘Net Neutrality’ issue simmers in courts, cable operators continue to make investments to improve bandwith they will aim to monetize through exclusive deals with clients.

TA’s Jason Werlin, a vice president, worked on the deal. He said Aurora Networks may make additional deals to build scale, but did not identify any geographic region that is attractive for expansion; the company already has operations in Latin America, Europe, Asia and the US.

“It is a company with proprietary products in a rapidly growing market,” he told the M&A Journal.

Other deals by TA in the cable and telecom space include its investments in Idea Cellular, an India wireless company; MetroPCS Communications, the listed metro-area cell service provider and Micromax Informatics Limited, another Indian firm.

Earlier this month, TA Associates bought a majority stake in Cath Kidston, the London-based maker of household and fashion products.

Goodwin Procter provided legal counsel to TA Associates. Wilson Sonsini served as legal advisor to Aurora Networks.

Other recent tech deals include USA Wireless Solutions’ merger with Paramount Products Group; Emerging Capital Partners’ Africa telecom plays and strategic plays in 2009 from Verizon (which bought Alltel) and AT&T (which bought Centennial Communications).
