Duane Morris LLP — The Philadelphia law firm added three attorneys to its San Francisco branch. Denis Shanagher joined as a partner in the firm's trial practice while John Callan and Alice Suet Yee Barkley joined the real estate practice as partner and of counsel, respectively. All three hires were previously at McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP.


Jones Day — The New York law firm has launched a Luxembourg fund formation practice in Paris. Catherine Martougin has joined the Jones Day office in Paris as a partner. She arrives from Arendt & Medernach, a law firm in Luxembourg. Her arrival marks a continuing expansion of Jones Day’s European private equity capabilities.


Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP — The Los Angeles law firm has taken over Richardson & Patel LLP. Attorneys coming over include vice chairman Nimish Patel, partners Marc Jones, David Gordon, Melanie Figueroa and Peter Hogan; counsel Carl Kleidman, senior counsel Mary Ann Sapone; and associates Blake Baron, Travis Meserve, Gabrielle Napolitano, Bryan Wasser and Sujata Wiese. Kevin Friedmann arrives as chair, corporate and business transactions.


Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP — Johneth Chongseo Park is set to join the firm’s Seoul, South Korea, office as a partner. Park has worked on notable M&A transactions, including the sale of a controlling stake in a subsidiary by STX Offshore & Shipbuilding, investments by Goldman Sachs PIA in a number of Korean companies and the  2007 acquisition of MSK Corp. by Suntech.


Thoma Bravo LLC— The Chicago private equity firm has promoted Arvindh Kumar and Chip Virnig to principal. Kumar and Virnig were previously vice presidents. Kumar’s prior experience includes positions at Prospect Capital Management, BC Partners and Morgan Stanley. Virnig, who joined the firm in 2008, worked in the investment banking group at Merrill Lynch & Co. in New York.
