Blank Rome LLP— James Odell has jumped to the law firm's New York office as a partner in the finance, restructuring and bankruptcy group. He was previously at New York financial services Depository Trust & Clearing Corp. In this role, he will be co-head of the financial services industry team. Blank Rome is headquartered in Philadelphia.


Carlyle Group LP — The Washington, D.C. private equity firm opened an office in Jakarta, Indonesia. Rajiv Louis, who joined Carlyle in 2013, is at the helm of the new location. Previously, Louis worked at UBS AG for 10 years where he went on to be head of investment banking in Indonesia. Before that, he was as a research analyst at Schroders plc. He has also worked for Goldman Sachs & Co. (NYSE:GS) and Salomon Smith Barney in Singapore.


CMF Associates — The financial services provider tapped Mike Mannella to be a director operating out of Vancouver, British Columbia.  Previously at Ernst & Young and Sandgate Consulting, Mannella comes to CMF with more than 25 years of public and private sector experience.  He will work within the firm’s financial and operational consulting group, with specializations in corporate governance, risk management, information systems development and human resource consulting.


Duane Morris LLP — The Philadelphia law firm promoted Cyndie Chang to managing partner. Chang, based out of Duane Morris' Los Angeles office,  succeeds Russell Roten, who served in the role since the launch of the office in 2006. Separately, Stephen Sutro was named managing partner of the firm's San Francisco office, succeeding Joseph Burton, who served in the role since 2001.


Ladenburg Thalmann — The Miami investment bank named Robert Hazlett as a managing director of equity research covering biopharmaceuticals. Prior to joining Ladenburg, Hazlett worked at Roth Capital Partners, where he served as a senior research analyst covering the biotech and emerging pharmaceutical sectors.


Loeb & Loeb LLP — Rachel Harris has been appointed chair of the Los Angeles law firm's international trusts and estates planning practice. Harris counsels individuals, families and trustees on domestic and international estate planning, trust and estate administration, charitable giving and the operation of tax-exempt organizations.


Monroe Capital LLCLee Stern has joined as a managing director in the private equity firm's New York office. Stern will lead the firm’s efforts in club and co-lending investment partner work and help expand Monroe’s junior capital for private equity sponsored and non-sponsored deals. Stern was most recently managing director with Levine Leichtman Capital Partners. Prior to that he was a director and founding member of the mezzanine debt segment of KKR & Co. LP (NYSE: KKR) where he helped raise its large $1 billion mezzanine fund.


Morris Manning & Martin LLP (MMM) — Owen Pinkerton joins the law firm's Washington, D.C. office as of counsel. There, he will work closely with the real estate capital markets practice as well as the securities and funds and alternative investments groups. Prior to joining MMM, Pinkerton practiced in the D.C. office of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP. Prior to that, he worked for the division of corporation finance within the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.


Morrison & Foerster LLP — Akihiro Wani has joined Ito & Mitomi, the registered associated offices of San Francisco-based law firm Morrison & Foerster in Tokyo. Wani’s expertise includes derivatives and structured finance transactions, as well as all regulatory aspects of M&A.


Omers Private Equity — The private equity arm of the Canadian pension fund hired Jonathan Mussellwhite as a managing director in its London office.  An 18-year veteran of private equity, Mussellwhite was one of the founding partners of private equity firm Cognetas LLP, where he co-led the financial sponsor's London office beginning in 2009. Prior to Cognetas, he was a director at the London offices of Electra Fleming and, before that, accounting firm Arthur Andersen LLP.


WeiserMazars LLP — Christina Immelman has joined the Chicago tax and advisory services firm as a partner.  With more than 28 years of experience as a corporate tax executive, Immelman specializes in mergers and acquisitions, accounting, deal structures and cost capitalization. 


William Blair & Co. — The Chicago investment bank added Laura Provenzale as a managing director in the firm’s consumer and retail investment banking group in San Francisco. Provenzale, a 20-year investment banking veteran, specializes in several sectors, including restaurants, consumer goods and retail.  Provenzale has previously held roles at several banking firms, including Raymond James Financial Inc. (NYSE: RJF), WR Hambrecht, Bank of America Corp. (NYSE: BAC) and JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM).
