Private equity-backed Trim Parts has closed a deal for car parts distributor Mr. Mustang Inc.

Mr. Mustang, headquartered in Dayton, Ohio, manufactures restoration parts and accessories specific to the Ford Motor Co. vehicle line. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition allows Lebanon, Ohio-based Twin Parts to serve a broader customer base.  Trim Parts sells and manufactures class automotive restoration parts and accessories, including custom molded carpet, emblems, lenses, trim, door handles and sill plates. The company sells the parts mainly to dealers that serve auto restoration enthusiasts.

Trim Parts is backed by Greenwich, Connecticut private equity firm Dubin Clark, which is seeking more add-on acquisitions to the car parts business. In August, Trim Parts recapitalized Parts Unlimited Interiors, which supplies automotive interior restoration products. Trim Parts Holdings bought Canton-based First Place Auto Products, a maker of restoration Mopar parts for Chrysler muscle cars, in May. In April 2013, another Dubin Clark portfolio company, Merex Inc., closed a deal for Aircraft Logistic Support Co.

The acquisition follows several other deals for car parts groups, including Avic Electromechanical Systems Co. Ltd.'s purchase of Hilite International in May, and AGM Automotive LLC's deal for Chicago Miniature Lighting LLC
