Maroon Group LLC has acquired chemicals distributor U.S. Chemicals, as the buyer grows through acquisitions. Maroon Group is owned by management and affiliates of CI Capital Partners.

U.S. Chemicals , based Darien, Connecticut, supplies acids and oxides along with other chemicals. Maroon Group distributes additives and resins to the rubber, plastics and construction sectors. “The opportunity to build on the customer and supplier relationships that U.S. Chemicals has fostered over its history is very important for our organization as we execute our growth strategy,” says Maroon Group CEO Mark Reichard.

Maroon Group, located in Avon, Ohio, has been active making deals in the chemicals space. Earlier in 2016, the company completed its acquisition of raw materials distributor CNX Distribution and in 2015, Maroon Group purchased adhesives and coatings supplier D.B. Becker.

M&A in the chemicals sector has been robust. Advent International will acquire chemicals producer Viakem SA de CV; CVR Partners LP completed its acquisition of fertilizer maker Rentech Nitrogen Partners for about $840 million; FMC Corp. (NYSE: FMC) completed its purchase of Cheminova; and Lanxess AG (ETR: LXS) said it will buy the Chemours Co.’s (NYSE: CC) clean and disinfectant business.  For more on M&A trends in the chemicals sector, see Chemical Makers Keep Drawing Buyers.
