HBC Home & Hardware Products has acquired WordLock Inc. from Littlejohn & Co. for an undisclosed amount.

WordLock, headquartered in Santa Clara, Calif., makes bike locks, padlocks and travel locks with combinations that use letters and words rather than numbers.

Carnbury, N.J.-based HBC manufactures consumer products for retailers, discount stores, home centers, wholesalers, drug and food chains, catalog companies, municipalities and hardware stores. Its products include paint applicators, security and builder hardware and plumbing products.

“By combining WordLock’s category know-how with the successful HBC security hardware business, HBC has instantly become a real force in the portable security industry,” says James Brower, HBC’s CEO.

Duff & Phelps acted as WordLock’s financial adviser on the deal.
