Dell Inc. has acquired StatSoft for an undisclosed amount.

Tulsa, Okla.-based StatSoft provides data mining, data visualization and predictive analytics services to companies aiming to identify future trends, new customers and forecast industry shifts.

The deal adds to Dell's group of information management services. Dell, headquartered in Round Rock, Texas, was taken private in 2013 by private equity firm Silver Lake for a total of $24.9 million. The company was founded in 1984 by Michael Dell (pictured).

Silver Lake, headquartered in Menlo Park, Calif., closed a $10.3 billion fund in May, when it was in the process of negotiating to take Dell private.

The fund, according to Silver Lake, was the largest amount raised for a technology-focused PE fund. In March, Silver Lake sold Serena Software to private equity firm HGGC
