In mid September Standard & Poor’s issued new research, warning that 2008 could see a dramatic climb in the amount of corporate defaults. In line with much of the gloomy news hovering around the deal market, lately, the ratings agency anticipates that the next 15 months could bring as much as $35 billion in defaults, a number that would represent a nearly nine times increase over the $4.5 billion experienced so far this year.
