Columbia Books & Information Services has purchased Thompson Information Services for an undisclosed amount.
Thomson Information, headquartered in Washington D.C., provides compliance information and training. The company was sold by the Thompson Media Group, which has been in the process of selling its business units. Thompson Information was the fifth and final unit to be sold.
The buyer publishes print directories, online databases, mailing lists and audio conferences for the government relations, lobbying and public relations communities.
Bethesda, Md.-based Columbia expects the deal to allow it to expand beyond its core audience of political professionals who craft laws and regulations to professionals who comply with those rules.
In June, Thompson Media sold Education Library to LRP Publications. In May, the company sold Sheshunoff and A.S. Pratt to LexisNexis Group.
