Private equity-backed Roofing Supply Group LLC has purchased two home and commercial construction companies, each based in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
The Dallas-based buyer, a portfolio company of Clayton Dubilier & Rice (CD&R), bought Supreme Metal Products with Exterior Building Supply each for an undisclosed price.
The merged entity is slated to do business under the name Supreme Building Products.
Supreme Metal Products is a provider of residential and commercial roofing products while Exterior Building Supply is a distributor of siding, windows, columns, shutters and trim.
Founded in 1981, Roofing Supply Group is a wholesale distributor of roofing with a total of 61 locations across the U.S. It was acquired by CD&R in May 2012 for an undisclosed price.
The bolt-on acquisitions of Supreme Metal and Exterior Building come amid an upturn in housing and home improvement M&A in August. Most recently, Nova Capital Management Ltd. picked up a suite of hardware businesses owned by Newell Rubbermaid Inc. (NYSE: NWL) for $214 million.
And in early August, Littlejohn & Co. LLC closed the purchase of Handy Hardware Wholesale Inc. as part of a recapitalization deal.
