Brentwood Associates — Scott Staff joined the Los Angeles private equity firm as a managing director focused on business development. Staff joins Brentwood from Perkins Coie LLP, where he served as the law firm’s global director of business development for nine years.


Bridge Growth Partners LLC — The nascent New York private equity firm enlisted Jessica Bibliowicz (pictured) founder of National Financial Partners Corp., as a senior adviser. In this position, Bibliowicz is expected to participate in ongoing discussions with Bridge Growth’s investors and source new deal opportunities in technology and financial services. Bibliowicz, who is the is the daughter of former Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C) CEO Sanford Weill, grew NFP by purchasing a slew of smaller financial firms, took it public in 2003 and sold it in April to Madison Dearborn Partners LLC in a take-private deal valued at $1.3 billion.


Cordia Bancorp Inc. (Nasdaq: BVA) — The Midlothian, Va. bank holding company hired Mark Severson as CFO. Severson, who boasts 37 years of banking experience, most recently served as CFO and treasurer of Chemung Financial Corp. (Nadaq: CHMG) in Elmira, N.Y. Severson specializes in bank mergers and acquisitions and retail branch development. Former CFO Joseph Pennington, resigned in October 2012 to pursue other business opportunities, according to a regulatory filing. Pennington is currently a senior manager at accounting, tax and consulting service Elliott Davis, in Richmond, Va.


Duff & Phelps Corp. — The New York investment bank tapped Richard Cohen as managing director. Cohen will be based in Miami. He joins Duff & Phelps from Austin, Texas analytics firm RenewData Corp., where he most recently served as president and vice chairman.


GE Antares Capital — The private equity investment arm of GE Capital brought in Chip Cushman (pictured) as a managing director in New York. Cushman joins GE Antares from private equity firm Oaktree Capital Management where he spent more than six years investing and managing mezzanine debt, equity and senior loan investments. Prior to that, Cushman spent roughly 12 years at Deutsche Bank Securities, which he joined as a result of the bank’s 1998 acquisition of Bankers Trust. He began his career as a management consultant with real estate accounting firm Kenneth Leventhal & Co.


Jones Day — Marie Elena Angulo, who joined the New York-based law firm in 2011 as a partner, will relocate from the firm’s London office to the recently-opened Miami location. The move is meant to strengthen Jones Day's Latin America practice. From 1994 to 2010, Angulo worked with various international law firms, advising on a number of Latin American deals, including Madrid-based multinational corporation Repsol SA’s purchase of YPF SA in 1999. In 1998, she spent a year at Marval O'Farrell & Mairal in Buenos Aires, Argentina.


Kugman Partners — The advisory firm named Alvin Carter executive director, a new position that will focus on debt financing, capital investments and profit improvement strategies. Carter specializes in Chapter 11 cases and corporate governance matters, as well as informal restructuring processes. Kugman is based in Lake Forest, Ill.


Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP — Kevin O’Mara joined the New York law firm as a partner. As part of the firm’s business and finance practice, O’Mara will continue focusing on deals in a variety of sectors, including business services, energy, hospitality, manufacturing, media and technology.


O'Connor Davies, LLP -- Noam Hirschberger has joined the accounting and consulting firm, which has offices in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, as a director in the financial services and business valuation groups. Hirschberger has eight years of experience developing advanced financial models, including discounted cash flow, comparable security and Black-Scholes analyses, used for valuation of businesses, intangible assets and derivatives.
