Alliance Bancorp of New England Inc. has hired Friedman Billings Ramsey to conduct a strategic review, and it will not hold its annual meeting, last year held in late March, until that review is complete. But even if the company’s shares rose on the news, Alliance didn’t hire Friedman specifically to find a buyer.
