San Diego, the second largest city in California (behind Los Angeles) boasts many assets beyond its ideal weather. The U.S. Navy’s Pacific Fleet calls the city home, as does the world-famous San Diego Zoo, which houses more than 3,700 animals, including rare giant pandas. San Diego also provides headquarters for more than 400 biotechnology companies, such as Neurocrine Biosciences (Nasdaq: NBIX). It was recently ranked as the third best city in the U.S. for technology jobs by Forbes magazine, which says the region’s tech employment has grown by almost 30 percent over the past decade.
