New Era Cap’s acquisition of ‘47 Brand brings together two legacy sports apparel brands that were both still held by members of their founding families. German-American businessman Ehrhardt Koch founded New Era in 1920. ’47 Brands began as a single cart full of sports memorabilia outside Boston’s Fenway Park. Twin brothers Henry and Arthur D’Angelo started ‘47 in Boston after immigrating from Italy in 1947.
