Dynasty Financial Partners, a provider of technology, investment platform and business services to independent RIAs, has named Matthew LaPorta as its newest executive-in-residence.

The appointment supports Dynasty’s broader push into the sports and entertainment sector. LaPorta, a former seventh overall pick in the 2007 MLB draft, played seven seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers and Cleveland Indians after a standout collegiate career at the University of Florida, where he was a two-time All-American and two-time SEC Player of the Year. Since retiring from professional baseball, he has built a career in finance and investing, most recently serving as founder and operating partner of Wayfinder Capital Partners. He previously worked as director of private equity at A111 Capital, focusing on proprietary deal sourcing, acquisitions and capital raising, and was also a partner at sports advisory and investment firm True Up Capital.
