Cloudflare has purchased VoidZero, bringing the company behind the widely adopted Vite development ecosystem into its platform.
The transaction will integrate VoidZero’s tooling suite directly into Cloudflare’s developer ecosystem, creating a streamlined workflow from local development to deployment on Cloudflare’s global network. The deal reflects Cloudflare’s strategy to capitalize on the growing use of AI-assisted software development by reducing friction in the application development lifecycle.
VoidZero is an open source-focused software company founded by Evan You. Its tooling ecosystem has become a foundational layer of modern web development, with Vite reportedly exceeding 130 million weekly downloads. The company develops high-performance, Rust-based developer tools designed to improve build speeds, testing, bundling, and application performance. Following the acquisition, VoidZero’s engineering team and open source maintainers will join Cloudflare while continuing to advance the project’s open source roadmap.
