"It takes a village to get a deal done," says Benjamin Procter, president of ACG Boston and a partner at private equity firm Watermill Group.

But when it comes to the chapter's Dealsource events, only a select few are welcome.

Dealsource is, as Procter puts it, "a speed dating process between intermediaries and private equity partners" that consists of 25-minute meetings that are prescheduled to take place over the course of two days-most recently at ACG Boston Capital Connection.

"One of the things we do compared to other ACG events is we limit the general attendance of Capital Connection to only those people who qualify as dealmakers," Procter adds.

In other words, only those who spend at least 50 percent of their time in a dealmaking environment are invited.

"Other conferences you might have 100 private equity firms and just 30 intermediaries," and the rest may be individuals who are not directly involved in doing deals, explains Procter.

"PE firms pay pretty good money to be here; we want to make sure they get a lot out of it."
