Wynnchurch Capital LLC is backing Stampede Meat Inc., a distributor of protein meats for the restaurant, home-delivery and retail industry.

Founded in 1995, Stampede Meat processes marinated and cooked beef, chicken, pork and other poultry products. The Bridgeview, Illinois-based target manufactures meats in a variety of cuts, styles and grades which include: steaks, chops, roasts, fajitas, tips or patties. Stampede has also launched a line of "premium" SM protein at Costco Wholesale for the summer grilling season. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Wynnchurch Capital, headquartered in Rosemont, Illinois, is a middle-market private equity firm that invests in U.S. and Canadian businesses. The firm targets companies generating between $50 million and $1 billion in revenue. Wynnchurch makes corporate carve-outs, restructurings and buyout transactions of business in a variety of sectors, including: aerospace and defense, automotive & vehicle supply, building & forest products, chemicals, consumer goods, food, distribution and logistics, energy and industrial services. The firm’s investment portfolio includes hydraulic cylinder manufacturer Texas Hydraulics and mechanical fastener maker Surepoint Technologies Group Inc.

Demand for packaged foods has been rising as consumers look to eat more at home. Sovos Brands', backed by Advent International, acquisition of pasta sauce producer Rao's Specialty Foods Inc.; Benford Capital Partners purchased a majority stake in snacks manufacturer Saco Foods; Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Co. Ltd. bought packaged side dish producer Bellisio Foods; New Water Capital has acquired frozen entree maker Custom Made Meals.
