Wolters Kluwer Corporate Legal Services has acquired a stake in Third Coast Holdings Inc. for $180 million.

Houston-based Third Coast does business as Datacert and provides legal management software and services for general counsel offices and law firms in the U.S.

Wolters Kluwer, based in Alphen Aan Den Rijn, the Netherlands, is a professional information services company that provides software and services to businesses. The company plans to combine Datacert with its corporate legal services business, TyMetrix.

The deal gives the buyer the 62 percent of Datacert that it did not already own.

Private equity firm SSM Partners sold Wolters its stake, which it picked up in 2007. The firm made a seven times return on its investment, according to a source with knowledge of the deal.
