Private equity-backed Argotec has acquired Stevens Urethane, a division of JPS Industries Inc.
Stevens, headquartered in Easthampton, Massachusetts, makes polyurethane sheet and film products used for helmets, headphones, health care devices, scuba equipment, gloves and protective gear.
Greenfield, Massachusetts-based Argotec manufactures polyurethane film and sheets for the surface protection, medical and graphics markets. The company is owned by Chicago PE firm Wind Point Partners, which bought it in June 2013.
This is Argotec's first add-on acquisition.
Wind Point has raised more than $2.8 billion in commitments. In March, the firm invested in Dicom Transportation Group, which provides logistics services. In May 2013, Wind Point combined two food manufacturing companies, Hearthside Food Solutions and Ryt-way Industries.
