Whiting Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: WLL) is buying oil and gas properties for $260 million.
The properties are in the Williston Basin in the Williams and McKenzie counties of North Dakota, and the Roosevelt and Richland counties in Montana.
Whiting, headquartered in Denver, Colo., explores for, develops and produces crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids, primarily in the Rocky Mountain, Permian Basin, Mid-Continent, Michigan and Gulf Coast regions of the U.S.
Other recent oil and gas deals include the planned merger of Pioneer Natural Resources Co. (NYSE: PXD) and Pioneer Southwest Energy Partners LP, and Exco Resources Inc.’s (NYSE: XCO) deal for undeveloped oil and gas assets for $1 billion.
