Los Angeles private equity firm Vance Street Capital LLC has closed a deal for Lark Engineering.

Lark Engineering, headquartered in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., designs and manufactures radio frequency filters for the commercial, industrial and military sectors.

The PE firm bought the company as an add-on acquisition for portfolio company Secure Communication Systems, which designs and manufactures computer and information assurance systems. Vance Street bought Santa Ana, Calif.-based Secure Communication in October 2009.

Vance Street focuses on making control investments in industrial manufacturing, aerospace, defense and medical device companies. In April, the firm invested in Associate Painters, an aircraft painting company.

Fifth Third Bank provided debt financing for the deal. O’Melveny & Myers LLP provided legal advice to Vance Street on the deal, and Peter G. Sutherland & Associates serviced as Lark’s financial adviser.
