UBS Group AG hired Citigroup Inc. banker Jason Hutchings as head of mergers and acquisitions for natural resources, power, utilities and infrastructure deals in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

Hutchings, who was most recently head of the EMEA metals and mining investment-banking business at the U.S. bank, will join the Swiss lender in October, the people said, asking not to be identified as the information is private.

A representative for UBS declined to comment.

Under investment-bank head Andrea Orcel, UBS is making additions to its ranks, including JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s Severin Brizay and Credit Suisse Group AG’s Laurent Bouvier.

Hutchings resigned from Citigroup to join another bank, a person familiar with the matter said July 1. Hutchings has worked on deals for companies such as BHP Billiton Plc, Anglo American Plc and German utility RWE AG.
