Iconix Brand Group Inc. (Nasdaq: ICON) is the winning bidder for Umbro,  a maker of soccer-related products that was being auctioned off by Nike Inc. (NYSE: NKE), with a $225 million offer.

Nike announced it wanted to divest the Umbro and Cole Haan brands to focus more on its Nike, Jordan, Converse and Hurley brands in May. Beaverton, Ore.-based Nike also announced plans to sell Cole Haan, a dress shoes and accessories brand, around that time.

Umbro, based in Manchester, U.K., makes soccer uniforms, equipment and cleats.

New York-based Iconix Brand owns and markets consumer brands, such as Badgley Mischka, London Fog, Ecko and Ed Hardy.
