IBM Corp. (NYSE: IBM) is buying Star Analytics Inc., a business analysis company.

Redwood City, Calif.-based Star makes software that automatically integrates information, reporting applications and business intelligence tools.

IBM expects the deal to advance its business analytics initiatives. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

In October, IBM closed a deal for Texas Memory Systems, a company that sells data-storage devices. In August, the company agreed to buy recruiting service Kenexa Corp. for $1.3 billion. Kenexa also helps clients gather information. 

In December, IBM agreed to buy StoredIQ Inc., a company that develops software aimed to help litigators go through data.
