Private equity firm Bedford Funding has closed on its second fund, Bedford Funding II, with $1 billion in committed capital.

White Plains, N.Y.-based Bedford focuses on information-technology investments. The fund aims to invest in the healthcare information-technology sector.

The firm’s previous fund, which had $400 million, focused on technology for the human-capital management market.

Bedford’s portfolio companies include, Authoria, a talent-management company; Peopleclick, a recruiting company; Acquire, a developer of analytics software; Strategia Communications, a web-based learning company; and Socialtext, a developer of business collaboration software.
