Eye healthcare company Bausch & Lomb has completed its purchase of Technolas Perfect Vision GmbH.
Munich-based Technolas is an ophthalmology laser company. The new company will be called Bausch + Lomb Technolas and will continue to develop and commercialize surgical laser technology in the ophthalmic field. The deal was announced in November.
The target was formed by Rochester, N.Y.-based Bausch, which makes contact lenses, lens-care products and surgincal instruments, and Perfect Vision AG through a joint venture in 2009. Technolas was formed to develop and sell refractive and cataract technologies. It developed the Victus laser, which performs cataract and refractive surgeries, was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in July.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In June, Bausch completed its acquisition of Ista Pharmaceuticals Inc., a company that makes eye medications. In Deccember 2011, the company acquired Waicon, which manufactures contact lenses for the Argentinian market.
