Private equity firm Behrman Capital has purchased cyber-security provider Tresys Technology for an undisclosed amount.

Columbus, Md.-based Tresys provides products and services to government intelligence and commercial customers, including the Department of Defense. The company specializes in security-enhanced Linux.

General Peter Pace (pictured), an operating partner at Behrman, will serve as chairman of Tresys’ board of directors. Pace served as the 16th chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the most senior position in the U.S. armed forces, from September 2005 to October 2007.

Berhman, based in New York and San Francisco, invests in healthcare, specialty manufacturing, business to business outsourcing. This deal is expected to expand Berhman’s defense, intelligence and information technology businesses. The firm has raised five funds with more than $3 billion in capital.

Goodwin Procter LLP acted as legal counsel to Behrman Capital. White Peak Capital LLC served as Tresys’ financial adviser, while Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice LLP acted as legal counsel.
