De Luna Partners Inc. — Michael Barrett has joined the firm’s Orinda, Calif. office as a partner, where he will be involved in all aspects of fundraising for private equity, alternative assets funds and global equity strategies. Barrett was previously managing director of private equity at Mesirow Financial in Chicago.


Paradigm Ltd. — Arshad Matin has been named chief executive of the software developer for the oil and gas industry. U.K. private equity firm Apax Partners LLP acquired Paradigm for $1 billion in June 2012. Matin, who is also slated to be a member of the board of directors, will be based in Houston.


Peter J. Solomon Co. (PJSC) — Mark Boidman, previously at investment bank Barclays plc, joins PJSC as a director in the media, entertainment, communications and technology advisory practice. Before Barclays, Boidman was a vice president at Lehman Brothers. He began his career in 2000 as an associate at law firm Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison LLP.


Piper Jaffray & Co. — The investment bank tapped Romy McCarthy (pictured) as a managing director in its public finance investment banking group in Milwaukee. She spent 19 years as a public finance investment banker in Ziegler's health care and senior living groups.


Sidley Austin LLP — The Chicago-based law firm has announced that Gregory Salathé joined the firm as a partner. He will be based in the Singapore office after a transition period in Tokyo. Salathé specializes in cross-border transactions. Salathé has represented global investment funds and multinational corporations looking to investment across Asia, as well as Asian companies investing in the U.S. and Europe.


Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP — The law firm added Andrea Satty as a partner. Satty will work in New York within the firm’s energy and project finance practice, where she will represent major energy companies, private equity firms and financial institutions. She has worked on various lending projects including a $1.5 billion financing of the Ruby natural gas pipeline, which runs from Opal, Wyo., through the Rocky Mountain area to the Pacific Northwest and ends in Malin, Ore. Prior to Stroock, Satty worked at the New York office of Chadbourne & Parke LLP, where she was a partner. In addition to New York, Stroock has offices in Los Angeles and Miami.


UBS AG (NYSE: UBS) — Jim Voorheis has agreed to join the investment bank In New York, as head of specialty finance, Americas. At UBS, Voorheis will work in the financial institutions group. He was previously at Deutsche Bank AG and, before that, Citigroup Inc.
