Mergers & Acquisitions names the 2022 Most Influential Women in Mid-Market M&A, including Stifel’s Justine Mannering.

How did you further your firm’s ESG goals?

I have always been a strong advocate for ESG and I have actively looked to work with companies promoting these goals in the consumer sector. In 2021, I supported our equity research team to help plan the first Stifel Sustainable Lifestyle Brands Conference. The conference highlighted how private and public branded consumer companies are addressing sustainability and investor perception regarding the value of ESG initiatives.

How are you advancing the state of women?

In 2017, I was a founding member of Exponent Women, a New York-based networking organization that focuses on connecting women in the middle-market dealmaking ecosystem, which I continue to be very active with. We have planned and hosted numerous successful events to give women the opportunity to network, have access to high quality relevant content, and attend forums to learn from each other with the ultimate goal of encouraging women to develop networks and support structures, to eventually to be able to work together and make referrals on deals.

With the onset of Covid and limiting in-person events, we had to pivot and develop an online webinar program for our community. This has been a huge success over the past 18 months and has allowed us to expand well beyond the New York area, broadening our ability to reach and support more women.

Additionally, we launched a series focused on mid and early stage career development, which will help to advance women with additional support from a broader network of senior women and peers into 2022 and beyond.
