PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG) has acquired Flood Australia, after closing a handful deals in 2014 that won it Mergers & Acquisitions M&A Mid-Market Strategic Buyer of the Year award.

Flood Australia, headquartered in Padstow, Australia, makes specialty wood stains and paint additives that are sold through home improvement stories, including Bunnings, Masters, Mitre 10, Dank's and independent paint retailers.

Pittsburgh-based PPG currently manufactures and distributes Flood wood-care products in North America. The buyer makes and sells coatings used in the construction, consumer products, industrial and transportation markets.

The business, which used to focus primarily on glass, has made a slew of acquisitions in the coatings space over the past few years. In January, PPG acquired Le Joint Français' aerospace and car sealants business. In December the company bought Revocoat, which makes polymers for the automotive industry. Last June, PPG announced several deals: The purchase of Mexican paint company Consorcio Comex SA; architectural paint supplier Masterwork; and ceiling-repair products maker Homax Group Inc.
