Sempra U.S. Gas & Power has purchased a wind project in Nebraska for an undisclosed amount.

As part of the deal, Sempra has agreed to buy 43 wind turbines for the project, called Broken Bow 2.  The power from the Custer Country, Neb. project will be sold to the Nebraska Public Power District under a 25-year contract.

After the project is completed, Sempra will have joint-venture wind projects that can generate more than 1,000 megawatts of power. 

Sempra, headquartered in San Diego, develops renewable energy and natural gas projects. The company is a subsidiary of Sempra Energy (NYSE: SRE).

In May, Google Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) invested in high-altitude wind-turbine maker Makani Power.Also in May, SSE plc announced it was buying a wind farm project in Scotland.
