Ryan Seacrest, the radio and television executive who hosts "American Idol," among many other gigs, is rapidly developing a diversified media company in Seacrest Global Group.

The Los Angeles company's latest move was to buy a majority stake in Civic Entertainment Group, a New York marketing agency that produces events, including CNN Grill and NBC's Education Nation, and creates marketing campaigns for clients, including HBO and CNN.

"Part of my overall goal in the business is to connect content, brands and consumers," Seacrest says in an interview about the Civic deal with The New York Times. "I think that this is a great opportunity to do that."Seacrest wears many hats throughout the entertainment world, including hosting and co-producing ABC's "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve."
