Running Specialty Group is continuing a streak of deals with the acquisition of Indiana Running Co.
The Bloomington, Indiana-based business operates a running store that also organizes running-related events.
The acquisition gives Running Specialty five stores in Indiana. The retailer has been bulking up through acquisitions and announced a deal for shoe-retailer Striders, which has two shops, on Feb. 20. In November, the business acquired Run Colorado, which operates a shop in Greenwood Village, Colorado.
Running Specialty is a unit of the Finish Line Inc. (Nasdaq: FINL). The company operates 71 specialty running stores in 16 states and the District of Columbia.
As consumers continue to focus on living healthier lifestyles, deals for lifestyle-oriented retailers have picked up. Earlier in February private, equity firm Bruckmann Rosser Sherril & Co. bought Simpson Performance Products Inc., and before that J.W. Childs acquired Cycle Gear.
