Roadrunner Transportation Systems Inc. (NYSE: RRTS) is buying again this time, picking up Active Aero Group from private equity firm Platinum Equity for $115 million.
Belleville, Michigan-based Active Aero provides supply-chain services for transportation and logistics customers, mostly in the U.S. and Mexico. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter.
Roadrunner Transportation, headquartered in Cudahy, Wisconsin, has been on a buying spree. In July, the company bought logistics group Integrated Services for $13 million. Earlier in July, the company had announced that it was expanding its credit facility to $550 million to help drive growth, organically and through acquisitions. In March, Roadrunner bought Unitrans International Corp. for $55.5 million, and in February, the company picked up Rich Logistics.
Platinum Equity acquired a majority interest in Active Aero in 2011. The Los Angeles-based private equity firm has exited several companies this year, including Keystone Automotive, Nesco and Acument Global Technologies.
