The Riverside Co. has acquired Jacosoft LLC, a company that delivers emergency notifications, to add it to Emergency Communications Network LLC (ECN).

Jacosoft does business as DeltAlert, and provides time-sensitive voice, text-to-speech, text and e-mail messages. The company’s customers will be migrated to ECN’s CodeRed product, which provides similar services, including severe weather notifications and emergency situations. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Riverside bought ECN in October 2011, and has since added on One Call Now and CityWatch. The firm continues to seek acquisition opportunities to add to ECN, it says in a statement.

The private equity firm, with headquarters in New York and Cleveland, used ECN's system to communicate with New York employees when the firm's primary data center had to be turned off Oct. 29, due to flooding of Manhattan's financial district during Hurricane Sandy.
