Quintiles Transactional Holdings Inc. (NYSE: Q) is buying Novella Clinical, a clinical research organization.

Novella manages clinical research and trials for oncology, medical device and diagnostics customers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Quintiles, headquartered in Durham, N.C., provides biopharmaceutical development and commercial outsourcing services. The company develops and commercializes medications. The buyer expects the acquisition to add to its offerings. 

Other recent health care deals include Catamaran Corp’s. (Nasdaq: CTRX) $410 million purchase of Restat LLC, a pharmacy benefit manager, and Community Health Systems Inc.’s acquisition of Health Management Associates.
