Primedia Inc., the Norcross, Ga. publisher of apartment and rental home listings, purchased Rent.com from eBay Inc. for an undisclosed price.
The deal brings Rent.com under the same roof as other real estate web properties, including ApartmentGuide.com, Rentals.com and RentalHouses.com.
The transaction is expected to close during the second quarter. TPG Capital assumed control of Primedia through a taking-private deal last May valued at $525 million.
Rent.com was founded in 2000 and was acquired by eBay in February 2005. San Jose, Calif.-based eBay is looking to move away from classified businesses and listings and acquire more e-commerce companies.
