BHS Specialty Chemicals has acquired Steam Engineering for an undisclosed amount.

Steam Engineering, headquartered in Vancouver, Wash., provides cleaning and sanitation chemicals to the food processing industry. The company also supplies water and wastewater-treatment chemicals, engineering services and equipment.

The deal is expected to strengthen BHS’ position in the northwest U.S.

BHS, headquartered in Nampa, Idaho, is backed by private equity firm Post Capital Partners, which invested in the company in July 2010. This is BHS’ second add-on acquisition. BHS manufactures food ingredients and chemicals for sanitation.

New York-based Post Capital is a private equity firm that invests in companies with at least $10 million in revenue. The firm is also invested in Invo Healthcare, TBA Global and DTT Surveillance.
