Paine & Partners added Franklin Myers as an operating adviser focusing on the firm's energy investments. Myers was most recently a senior adviser to Cameron International Corp., a position he assumed after spending more than five years as the chief financial officer and senior vice president of finance at Cameron.

Troy Thacker, a partner at the firm, in a statement cited Myers' experience "building, growing and guiding" global energy companies, adding that his presence will allow the firm to differentiate itself as capital provider to the sector.

Paine & Partners, a successor to Fox Paine & Partners formed in 2008, counts electric company United American Energy Corp. and Paradigm, an IT and services outfit that specializes in the oil and gas segment, among its past investments.

Myers initially joined Cameron (FKA: Cooper Cameron Corp.) in 1995 as a senior vice president and general counsel. Before that he worked at Baker Hughes after a stint at law firm Fulbright & Jaworski, where he was an attorney and partner.

Paine has brought on other operating partners. Last year, the firm added Bjarni Armannsson and Frank Reite to bolster its exposure to the Nordic region.
