NRG Energy Inc. (NYSE: NRG) has acquired solar energy company Goal Zero for an undisclosed amount.

Goal Zero, headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, manufactures portable solar-power products for hikers and campers, including cell phones and refrigerators.

Princeton, New Jersey-based NRG is a power company that provides solar energy, electric vehicle charging and wholesale electricity. The company has made other acquisitions, including a wind plant in June, and a cogeneration plant in Texas for $244 million in April 2013. 

Foley & Lardner served as Goal Zero's legal counsel. Lowenstein Sandler acted as NRG's legal counsel for the deal.

Other recent active lifestyle deals include Samsonite LLC's purchase of Gregory Mountain Products LLC and Columbia Sportswear Co.'s (Nasdaq: COLM) deal for yoga company Prana Living LLC.
