Mergers & Acquisitions names the 2022 Most Influential Women in Mid-Market M&A, including MiddleGround Capital’s Lauren Mulholland.

Tell us about yourself.

I am a founding partner and member of the Investment Committee. I’m responsible for overseeing the investment team, manage the New York City office and am involved in business development and investor relations.

Describe a recent dealmaking accomplishment.

I led two of five platform transactions completed by MiddleGround Capital in 2021, Arrow Tru-Line and Lindsay Precast. Arrow Tru-Line was MiddleGround’s first investment in the building products sector. It is an independent manufacturer and supplier of overhead garage door hardware components, selling into residential and commercial markets. Arrow Tru-Line aligns with the strong demand in the housing market due to the shortage of new home construction. Lindsay Precast was MiddleGround’s third infrastructure acquisition and first Fund II platform. Lindsay Precast is a designer and manufacturer of engineered precast concrete structures for water/wastewater, utility, solar, transportation and government end markets.

How are you a champion of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI)?

I founded the Women’s Wing at MiddleGround, comprised of 21 women across all functions within MiddleGround Capital. The Women’s Wing initiative was created as an internal monthly meeting designed to encourage bonding and development. Some recent sessions include speaker Lydia Fenet who authored the book, “The Most Powerful Woman in The Room is You” and a discussion led by Erica Bailey, a behavioral scientist who surveyed the group prior and discussed the “big five” personality traits as it relates to being authentic, in a session titled “How to Lead Like You.”

Middleground’s partnership is 50 percent female and 25 percent is African American female. The senior management team is 57 percent female and 14 percent African American female.
