The Menarini Group has acquired Silicon Biosystems SpA.

Silicon Biosystems, headquartered in Bologna, Italy, provides specialized molecular and cellular biology technology capable of recovering and analyzing tumor cells from blood samples. The analysis technologies are being used in clinical research for cancer diagnostics. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

Florence, Italy-based Menarini is a pharmaceutical and biotechnology company that develops therapeutic, diagnostic and medical device products for the health care market.

Several cancer technology companies have been acquired recently, including ArcherDx Inc., which was picked up by Enzymatics Inc., and Onyx Pharmaceuticals Inc., which was acquired by Amgen Inc.
